Campaign TAKE6
About the Campaign
The idea for Campaign TAKE6 was birthed over the 2009 Thanksgiving holiday when Icen, the author of the novel Empty Pleasures read a relationship article in Essence magazine. The article focused on single Black men and their answers to questions single women seem to be obsessed with: “How do I get from wifey to wife?” and “What do men want in bed?”
Inspired by her passion for single women and their relationship struggles, Campaign TAKE6 was organized. Why is this campaign necessary?
Never before have there been so many messages in the media geared toward helping single women find love. However, the majority of these messages are from the thoughts and desires of men. Relationship reality shows and relationship books alike give great advice and insight into what men think, like, ant, and need; however, women are losing themselves in the process of trying to find a mate. Are the cares and desires of men the only things that matter? Why, of course not.
